Join us Sunday, April 27th, at 10am for our annual pre-season cleanup. We can always use a few more volunteers, and we assure you, it’s less messy than it sounds. For more information, feel free to drop us a line at email@example.com, or post on our Facebook page. See you at the Barkyard!

On Sunday, April 21st at 10am, The Barkyard will undergo its annual spring cleanup.
We are often asked “how can I help?” While it’s not the most glamorous event to volunteer for, this is one of the most basic ways to volunteer for The Barkyard and get involved. It’s not nearly as gross as you might expect, and you’re bound to meet some friendly folks—as well as the ever-so-happy-to-be-there dogs.
To volunteer, simply send us an email, or leave us a message at 716-218-0303. Your help is greatly appreciated!
Join us at the 6th annual Run for Rover, right next to the Barkyard in LaSalle Park.
Run for Rover, a USATF-certified 5k run / walk for people at The Pavilion at LaSalle Park on Buffalo’s waterfront, benefits the Pet Emergency Fund. The course around the park is flat and smooth. There are prizes, dog washing, pet sitting, refreshments, animal welfare / provider information, and much, much more!
Join us at the Dog Days of Kenmore, Sunday, June 24th, from noon to 4pm.
The Dog Days of Kenmore is a fun, free event for canines and their people; a celebration of dogs and the enjoyment and interest they bring to our lives! The Dog Days excitement includes dog sports, contests with prizes, education and training, dog vendors and activities, treats for humans and canines, and much more! Well socialized, friendly dogs are welcome at the event; water and shade will be provided.
This year’s April Stools Day will be Sunday, April 15th at 10:00am.
As usual, we can use all the help we can get, so if you can spare some time to help keep the Barkyard a fun, safe, and clean place to visit, please stop by!
The 2011 NFJC Walk for CommUNITY will be held at LaSalle Park on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 12 noon. This is a dog-friendly event that not only brings the community together to walk as one, but also helps to raise much-needed funds to continue all the outstanding diversity programming the NFJC offers year round. To learn much more about the NFJC, visit their website at www.nfjcwny.org.
To Thank You for All Your Good Work
Please join the Barkyard for PET TALES DAY, an event honoring Anne Neville (Buffalo News Pet Tales columnist) and encouraging pet adoption. We are inviting all local rescue groups to participate in this public awareness opportunity. Pets of all kinds are also welcome! Organizations may set up their tables, tents, etc, inside or outside the Barkyard, understanding that only spayed/neutered dogs can be inside.
We are also inviting food vendors, including Lloyd’s Taco Truck and James the Ice Cream Cycle Guy.
While this is not specifically a fundraising event, organizations are welcome to accept donations, distribute flyers, recruit volunteers, and raise interest in their own fundraising events. You and your group do good work for animals and pet adoptions. Please help us get the word out! Post this on your websites and Facebook pages.

We would like to thank everyone who came out and enjoyed a wonderful Sunday at The Barkyard. Everybody had a fantastic time watching demonstrations, doing some “pawlates” (pilates for dogs), and trying out the dog-agility equipment.
